The Czech Citizen Parliament on Media and Democracy: A Tool for Democratic Renewal
Department of Communications Seminar, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia
The seminar presents the process and outcomes of the Czech Citizen Parliament on Media and Democracy, which brought together 20 Czech citizens to discuss the future of the Czech media field (with a focus on media system, representation and participation) as part of the European research project MeDeMAP. The seminar will start with a brief reflection on interventionist research, and the role of theory in supporting it. A second part will focus on the citizen parliament, as a tool for democratic enhancement. In the last part, we will focus on (1) the organisation, (2) the citizen concerns made visible through the resolutions and (3) the lessons learned of the Czech Citizen Parliament on Media and Democracy.
